Brad ClousingBrad ClousingBrad ClousingBrad Clousing

Candidate

City of Wheaton

Councilman at Large

Meet Brad

Brad is a life long Wheaton resident and graduate of Wheaton- Warrenville South High School. Brad is a managing partner at SLIB, a boutique commercial real estate firm based in Glen Ellyn  (since 2006) and a long-time member at Wheaton Bible Church.  Brad is also a graduate of the University of Illinois.

Meet The Family

Brad met his wife Kate (Kennedy) while at Wheaton-Warrenville South High School and even went to prom together senior year.  Today they reside not far from WWS with their four children, Braden, Kelsey, Maggie, and CC.  They enjoy the family environment Wheaton provides and their deep local roots.

The Platform

Safety and Family Values

Brad will be focused on decisions which maintain strong midwestern values for Wheaton.  Fully funding and protecting the ability of law enforcement to keep the community safe will be a top priority.  Brad sees this position as an opportunity to promote strong community support for law enforcement and keep strong ties between city leadership and those that keep us safe.  Safety is a core value and and essential building block for a flourishing and vibrant community.  Brad also feels there is additional opportunity to work closely with the D200 School Board, and administration to assure cooperation across the City, Police, Fire, and Community on messaging and support.

Economic Growth and Development

Brad has extensive experience in commercial real estate and working through complex financial modeling.  He would like to support the current work the Wheaton City council has completed in transforming the downtown Wheaton district.  As a southside resident, Brad would enjoy working to encourage a re-vitalization of the Danada and Town Square developments.  He is passionate about providing local options for shopping, dining, and services as a means to provide jobs and enhance local economic stability.

Infrastructure and Ammenities

As a real estate professional, Brad understands the importance of investment in strong community services and infrastructure.  Brad would like to continue the work of the current city council by focusing on economically feasible ways to improve our sewer and sanitary systems as well as water retention to protect residents and business from the flooding that certain areas of Wheaton is prone.  Brad is committed to investments to provide efficient and affordable utilities to residents.  This also includes working with the Park District to mazimize utility of the parks, additional pickleball courts, athletic facilities, and outdoor recreation paths.

Fiscal Responsibility

Given the inflationary environment and rising costs on almost everything and the very difficult and expensive real estate tax burden in Illinois, Brad will work to assure each decision on spending is made with the best possible value in mind for Wheaton residents.  Brad will work to identify possible savings on council decisions as a means to provide the best services at the best possible cost.  As a small business owner, this is ingrained in Brad's decision making process on a daily basis.
